We the writers for Destinfun.com consider ourselves quite the beach experts. After all, we live at the beach, work on the beach, play on the beach and vacation at the beach. Here’s a list of our top ten favorite beaches in the US. Start making your plans to visit one or all of these exquisite beach towns. 

Coronado Beach – San Diego 

This beach is 1.5 miles long and wide with shimmering silver sand. Swimmers, surfers, sunbathers and beachcombers visit Coronado Beach all year around. It’s known for its impeccable weather, stunning scenery, friendly community, and extreme cleanliness. This San Diego seashore stays classy all season long! 

Newport Beach – California 

Beach goers from all over are enchanted with the unspoiled nature of Newport Beach. Ten miles of coastline for surfing, swimming, or sunbathing ranks this pristine beach among California’s best. There’s a little something for everyone! The estuary on Back Bay is a bird watchers paradise, while the protected beach at Crystal Cove is a favorite among hikers. Surfers can catch the best waves at The Wedge and shoppers can find the trendiest merchandise on Fashion Island. The whole family will flock to the Fun Zone on Balboa Peninsula. 

Myrtle Beach – South Carolina 

An extensive stretch of silky white sand makes Myrtle Beach the ultimate East Coast vacation hot spot. 60 miles of sand along an Atlantic Ocean front creates opportunities for fishing, swimming, sunbathing, sailing and surfing. Throw in amusement parks, water parks, restaurants and live entertainment to attract beach goers from all over! 

Bald Head Island – North Carolina 

Board a ferry to experience 12,000 acres of serene island life. On Bald Head Island there are no cars and no rush, just 14 miles of beautiful beach and the maritime forest to explore. The island is filled with private residences and beach rentals boasting incredible views. Ride a bike, take a hike or just relax on the beach. If you are looking for a laid back island retreat Bald Head Island is the beach for you! 

Nantucket – Massachusetts 

This island located 30 miles off the coast of Cape Cod and part of Massachusetts resembles a faraway fairytale land. A bright blue ocean amidst simple, weathered white cottages surrounded by dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, lighthouses and wild rose gardens. The calm waters of Nantucket are inviting for families and there is plenty of nightlife to be enjoyed by all. 

Perdido Key – Florida 

Hidden away on a narrow strip of land on the western edge of Florida, Perdido Key holds true to its name meaning “lost island” in Spanish. This barrier island is known for its rolling, white-sand dunes and amazing views of the Gulf. With abundant wetlands, estuaries and wildlife, Perdido Key combines the natural beauty of nature with coastal living and southern charm. Get lost on this secluded island destination. 

Anna Maria Island – Florida 

A seven-mile strip of beautiful white-sand beaches line this barrier island between the turquoise Gulf of Mexico and peninsular Florida. Anna Maria Island’s laid-back and natural environment attracts beach lovers from all over. Strict building regulations maintain a pristine and panoramic view of the island while encouraging local dining and shopping establishments. A journey back in time with breathtaking views are the intentions of Anna Maria Island. 

Clearwater Beach – Florida 

White sand and crystal clear Gulf waters are what captivates visitors from all over to this beachside paradise. Clearwater Beach is spread along a narrow, 3-mile stretch of the Pinellas Peninsula on the Gulf Coast. With an average of 361 days of sunshine a year, sandy shores, blue waters and beachfront hotels, Clearwater Beach draws quite the crowd. Relax on the beach, rent a fishing boat, take a dolphin-watching cruise, play a game of beach volleyball, go parasailing or check out the aquarium. There’s a little something for everyone. 

Seagrove Beach – Florida 

A lush green canopy of oaks, magnolias, hickories and sand pines surround this powder white sand beach town. Situated along the Emerald Coast, Seagrove is a mile-and-a half beach that encircles a small cove. The two lakes, Eastern and Deer Lake, are perfect for kayakers and canoers while providing a serene backdrop for family photos. Spend the day lounging on the soft sand, spotting wildlife, or browsing the beach shops and restaurants along Scenic Highway 30A.  

Destin – Florida 

Breathtaking sugar-white sand beaches and emerald green waters are in the definition of Destin, Florida. Widely known as the “world’s luckiest fishing village”, there is no shortage of eager ocean life. Destin, Florida has an array of things to do on and off the beach. Paddle boarding, kite flying, shore fishing and surfing on the ocean as well as championship golf courses, open-air shopping centers and delicious ocean front restaurants on the shore. With so much excitement to be explored it’s no surprise that Destin, Florida is on the top of our list!
