The weather is at a perfect 75-85 degrees and my favorite outdoor festivals make their yearly appearance once again. October is the month fo r Destin’s 34th Annual Seafood Festiv al. Three days of over 20 food vendors, mostly local restaurants, serving up delicious seafood dishes. The setting takes place along the beautiful...

A Weekend Of Smooth Jazz at Pier Park

Posted on Tuesday, March 15, 2011

In North West Florida April is a big month. For most it’s a time for spring break, warmer weather, and long days on the beach. For this Destin native it means a weekend at the Sea Breeze Jazz Festival. Both locals and vacationers look forward to this event every year. I remember when the Sea Breeze Jazz Festival made its debut in 1999. It started small with just a few participants, mostly from local areas. Over the years I’ve seen it grow into the popular festival it is today, attracting...

Gas up the car, head out early and pack plenty of water, sunscreen and common sense if you plan to attend the Pensacola Beach Blue Angels Air Show. That’s the advice of safety officials gearing for the Red, White and Blues week that culminates Saturday with the main event. Years of fine-tuning have gone into the air show that has in years past attracted an estimated 150,000 visitors over a three-day period. After each air show, safety officials review the event for areas to tweak. Pensacola Beach...

“Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez.” Let the good times roll. Pensacola, the “City of Five Flags,” has been ruled by Spain, France, England, The Confederate States of America and the United States. Come January, the 450-year-old city will be celebrating French style during its Mardi Gras festivities. Mardi Gras might be known for raucous parties in New Orleans, but in Pensacola, it presents dozens of opportunities for family-friendly fun. From parades, delicious cuisines and balls to even a kritter...
